Denver Cuello Endures Shoulder Injury And Cut To Win By UD Over Ivan Meneses

World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver Minimum weight Titlist, Denver "The Excitement" Cuello emerged victorious in Mexico against Ivan Meneses of Puebla, Puebla Mexico.

The highly ranked 105 pound fighter and one of the country's fastest rising star in boxing defeated the bigger and taller Meneses by the way of a 10 round UD victory Saturday night at the Auditorio del Bicentenario in Morelia, Michoacan de Ocampo, Mexico.

Denver "The Excitement" Cuello-Singwancha of the Philippines beat Ivan Meneses of Mexico by unanimous decision in a fight held at the Auditorio del Bicentenario in Morelia, Michioacan de Ocampo, Mexico.

Promoter Aljoe Jaro e-mailed philboxing that Denver dropped Meneses in the opening round and sent him on the back foot. But Cuello suffered a sprained shoulder in round three and had trouble throwing his punches.

Denver Cuello To Fight Ivan Meneses In Mexico, September 22

WBC silver minimumweight champion Denver "The Excitement" Cuello (Wins 31- Loss 4- Draw 6 , KO 21)  is now scheduled to fight in Mexico on September 22 against Mexican foe Ivan Meneses (Wins 18- Loss 10- Draw 1, KO 10). Cuello confirmed by an interview with Bombo Radyo Iloilo Sunday morning.

Previously, Denver was scheduled to fight on the undercard of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Josesito Lopez bout on September 15th in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

WBC Number 1 rated Straw weight (105 pounds) and Silver Champion Denver "The Excitement" Cuello is Vegas bound. The 25 year old Cabatuan, Iloilo fighter will fight in the September 15th Golden Boy Promotions card featuring Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Josesito Lopez in the main event.

"Tuloy na po", (It is on.) said Cuello in an interview with Philboxing.com. "Naghahanap na lang ng makakalaban po," (We are just looking for an opponent.) he added.

Igarashi Defeats Sonny Boy Jaro By Split Decision

Filipino fighter Sonny Boy Jaro is not lucky tonight as he defeated by the taller Japanese opponent Toshiyuki Igarashi at Kasukabe, Saitama, Japan for the WBC flyweight world title on a 12-round split decision. Two judges favored to Igarashi by 116-112 and 115-113 while the other judge favored to Jaro by 116-112.

Former WBC flyweight and the ring flyweight champion Sonny Boy Jaro did not achieved the victory in his first title defense. Jaro earned the WBC flyweight title last March when he knocked out the veteran Thai opponent Pongsaklek Wonjongkam. Toshiyuki Igarashi is the new WBC flyweight world champion.

After frustrating efforts to get some of the boxers of the Braveheart Boxing Club to train under more experienced coaches, including Hall of Famer Freddie Roach, seven boxers from North Cotabato took the long trip from Mindanao to temporarily relocate in Binangonan, Rizal yesterday to train under upcoming Filipino trainer Aljoe Jaro.
